About
Welcome to Chanpuru Shokudo, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Okinawa at 10458 Kin, Kunigami District. This unassuming eatery, often described as a quaint little shack, unfolds into a surprisingly spacious haven once you step inside. With its welcoming atmosphere and a strong local following, Chanpuru Shokudo is the quintessential Okinawan dining experience.
The charm of this eatery lies in its commitment to providing authentic Okinawan cuisine at unbeatable prices, with most meals priced under 1,000 yen. From the first steps in, diners are enveloped in a friendly ambiance, courtesy of the attentive staff who strive to accommodate visitors, even if there's a language barrier. Ordering is a unique adventure—meals are selected through a ticket machine, immersing guests in an authentic Japanese culinary experience.
Highlighting the menu, the garlic chive ramen and fried gyoza have garnered rave reviews from patrons like Wally C, who couldn't resist finishing every last bite. The local favorite, chicken nanban set meal, comes recommended by many returning customers for its rich, flavorful sauce, although some might debate its supremacy over famed local competitors. Alongside a mini soba, this dish offers a hearty meal that is both satisfying and delicious.
Moreover, the atmosphere is punctuated by the presence of chirping birds, often seen fluttering around the premises, adding to the tranquil dining setting. Whether you choose the indoor tatami seating or the covered outdoor area, each meal promises to be a delightful experience. As Michael Lynch notes, it may surprise many travelers with its bustling ambiance, especially during lunch hours.
Overall, Chanpuru Shokudo not only serves remarkable dishes but also fosters a community spirit. It’s a place where locals and visitors can gather, share stories, and indulge in delightful Okinawan flavors. With a menu that begs for exploration, including options like ginger pork and pork soba, it's clear that every visit is poised to be a flavorful adventure. I, for one, can’t wait to return for another unforgettable meal!
“ Very good food and a large meal for a small price. Also SUPER friendly owner! ”
“ I don't know what is in these gyosa but they were awesome. I had the garlic chive ramen and completely finished. Yen only machine, no English menu but they were helpful. ”
“ Huge portions and delicious food. I love the goya chanpuru. ”
“ This place will surprise most travelers. It looks very small and appears to be a tiny shack but, it's actually fairly large once you get inside. Popular with locals, the place can get very busy for the lunch hours. Yen only and Japanese language skills are a must. Meals are ordered by purchasing tickets from a machine. There are tables and chairs or, tatami seating. And, there is a outdoors (covered area) for those who insist on smoking. Meals are very reasonably priced (under 1,000 yen) delicious and you get plenty to eat. It seems to be stroller/handicap friendly, just arrive early before it gets crowded. They serve delicious Okinawan meals and, I'll be returning again and again. ”
“ Love the shop waitress was very friendly although I do not speak Japanese language she understood very quick and threw in some suggestion. Many seats are available apon entering. Very thankful I feel welcomed. ”
